"Everything I Need To Know, I Learned In Kindergarten"

Six Day Schedule for the Year:

2020-21 Elem 6-Day Calendar

October 9th: I will send a letter home about sight words.  I am including an article below about games and some other ideas too.  Some ideas are

  • playing hangman with the words
  • writing them on post-it notes for different areas of your house
  • type them on the computer
  • write them with chalk on the driveway
  • play hopscotch by writing the words on the driveway and calling them out when you hop on them
  • show the sight word ring to all guests that come over during the weekend – have them be cheerleaders
  • cheer the different letters (“T”  “H”  “E”  “THE!!”)

The article is called The Games Children Play by Nancy Padak and Timothy Rasinski. Games Article Some of you have asked for the complete sight word list.  In this post, I have a attached a list for the Kindergarten sight words.  If your child has learned all of these words then I go to the next word list.  I hope this helps.

Here are some more ways to practice sight words at home.

Remember:  The sight word rings are due back in school every Monday.  Thank you for your support!

Handwriting:  These pages are for extra practice in the forming of letters.  When doing the page, your child should have their helper hand on the paper and hold their pencil correctly.  They should trace the letter and then try some themselves.  Each child knows the wording for the letter formation and should be saying it while making the letter.  (Pages will be posted as we learn the letter in class.)
